About Lake Arrowhead As an unincorporated community of San Bernardino County, Lake Arrowhead was home to 8,934 residents as of the 2000 census. The population density is low at 780 people per square mile. Lake Arrowhead is a resort community that sits upon its scenic namesake among the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. The community also houses the Ice Castle International Training Center, an Olympic-quality training arena for figure skaters. Among Lake Arrowhead's notable residents is the Olympic medalist, Michelle Kwan. A typical resident of the community is 39 years old, educated, married, travels 33 minutes to work, lives in a household of three, and enjoy a family income of $65,182. Education Faith Academy Lake Arrowhead is a private K-12 school in the community, enrolling about 150 students. Public schools in the community are Rim of the World Senior High with 475 students, Mary P. Henck Intermediate with 864 students, Lake Arrowhead Elementary with 511 students, and Rim Academy with 47 students in grades eight and nine. Of all residents age 25 and over, 34% have a bachelor's or advanced college degree. Colleges in the area include California State University as San Bernardino is only about 13 miles away, San Bernardino Valley College is also 13 miles away, Crafton Hills College is 19 miles away, Victor Valley College is 20 miles away, and the University of Redlands is 21 miles away. There are many more local universities as the area is a large hub for post-secondary schools. Mother Nature Must Live Here Hiking, biking and camping facilities at Lake Arrowhead cannot be beat by Southern California. With over 50 group camps in the area and a base in the National Forest, getting away from it all is very easy. Seasonal recreation is bountiful in the community with water sports in the summer and fall. The lake is privately owned by residents of the Arrowhead Woods and provides its owners opportunities to fish, swim and boat. Equestrian trails are also nearby as are excellent sites for snow and cross-country skiing. Within Arrowhead Woods there is a private yacht club and a private country club with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and sports bar. Several great restaurants are also in the area. Blue Jay village has a four-screen movie theater and some great restaurants. The Rime of the World Parks and Recreation District runs youth and adult sports leagues and many community events and programs. |
The Lake Arrowhead area has great real estate, which many say is highly under-valued. In July 2010 the average priced home sold in Lake Arrowhead was $320,000 a decrease in price from July of 2009 of 16%. There were 22 homes sold in July of 2010; compared to 28 homes sold in the same period last year. As one can see from the data home sales decreased from this time last year and sales prices have gone down approximately 20%. With interest rates still low and a good inventory it is a great time to buy. The highest priced home sold in July of this year was $1,850,000 and the lowest priced home sold was $165,000. The average days on the marker for July sales was 134 days. Looking at the first seven months of 2010, 144 homes have sold, and increase of 5% from the same period last year.
